"We adopted Jack from your shelter in June 2007. Jack has brought more love and happiness to our home than we would have ever expected. He came home fully potty trained, well-behaved and ready to love us. We can not believe his old family brought him in to you, but we are so thankful that AWL decided to keep him for a month before we found him. Jack now sleeps on a orthopedic bed at night and on his brand new lazy-boy by day. He has his own membership to the county parks and visits them daily. Jack is spoiled with a daily rawhide chew and new toys weekly. We will be coming from Ft Wayne, back to AWL to bring donations on behalf of us and Jack for the care you gave him."
Much appreciation,
Rick, Dawn, and Jack
"We adopted Niki, formerly Charmisa, last Christmas. My husband and I had talked about finding a playmate for our German Shepherd, Fritz. My husband had always wanted a Siberian Husky, too. I went on the AWL website just to take a look, and there was Niki. She was so cute! At the shelter, they took her out of her kennel and put her in the visiting room so I could get to know her. I knew the second I looked at her and she looked at me, that she was coming home with me."
"Niki had already been house-broken, and learned commands quickly. She was quick to adapt to her new home, and was so affectionate! Niki and Fritz get along great, and they love to play together. I can't imagine why anyone would want to abandon her, but I'm glad we could give her a new home!"

| I was just a mess before I had a home... |
"I adopted Maggie (formerly Fluffball) from the shelter in April. As you can see from her pictures, she's now a very different dog! I visited the shelter after work one evening with the intention of walking dogs on a beautiful spring evening but instead found a dog that was so scared and dirty looking I couldn't ignore her. I offered to have her groomed the next day to better her chance of being adopted, but when she clung to me and didn't want to leave my sight after her appointment, I decided she'd "picked" me as her new caregiver and I decided to adopt her."

How gorgeous am I now that I have a family? |
"She's been an absolute delight...house-broken, knows commands, fetches her ball and the list goes on. Not sure how such a wonderful dog had the misfortune of becoming a homeless stray in very bad condition when animal control found her, but I'm very blessed to have her. She's perfect for us and is a very happy addition to our family."
"Thank you AWL for doing what you do, and bringing my Maggie and me together!" ~Kim LeBarron
